Security officer CV template: an example to customize
Private security is a regulated sector: before judging your career, the recruiter checks that you are licensed to work. A missing or expired licence, a lapsed first aid certificate, a vague fire safety qualification — these are the first reasons candidates get cut, well before any lack of experience.

What a security recruiter checks first
- ✓A valid security licence — mandatory to work on site
- ✓The entry qualification for the profession
- ✓Role-specific certifications: fire safety, first aid, basic electrical safety
- ✓The type of site guarded: retail, industrial, corporate, events, aviation
- ✓Proven reliability: lone working, incident logs, procedures followed
3 tips to make your security officer CV stand out
1. Date every qualification
“Security licence valid 2024-2029” and “First aid — renewed 2025” remove all doubt. A qualification with no date forces the recruiter to verify, and many simply move to the next CV.
2. Specify the site type, not just the employer
“Security officer” says nothing. “Control room of a 120-unit shopping centre, 8 million visitors a year” places your environment, your procedures and your level of responsibility.
3. Prove reliability with facts
“Zero procedural incidents over 18 months of lone working” or “340 incident logs written, none disputed” carries more weight than an adjective like “reliable” or “thorough”.
