3 tips to make your construction CV stand out
1. State the size and nature of your projects
“Commercial projects from £2m to £8m, 14 subcontractors coordinated” places your level far better than “site supervision”. Value, floor area, duration and trades are the sector's benchmarks.
2. Date your certifications
A certification with no renewal date raises doubt. Write “SMSTS — renewed 2025” and “First aid at work — 2024”: the recruiter instantly knows whether you can start.
3. Talk about safety with numbers
Safety is a selection criterion in construction. “Zero lost-time incidents over 30 months” or “9 risk assessments authored” carries more weight than “compliant with safety rules”.
