Freelance CV template: an example for self-employed profiles
A freelance CV has a problem salaried CVs never face: forty three-week assignments, listed one after another, read as instability. Clients do not read a timeline — they want to know whether you have already solved their problem, and to what standard.
Recurring 3 to 18-month engagements for online stores with 500 to 20,000 SKUs.
- Maison Farel (homeware, €8M revenue): 180 product pages and 40 buying guides, organic traffic +134% in 14 months
- Velobox (cycling): editorial architecture rebuild, 22 keywords moved to page 1
Support for scale-ups of 30 to 150 employees, from content plan to publication.
- Fintech scale-up (80 employees, under NDA): 60 articles, 3 qualified leads per week from the blog
- Built a production process later adopted in-house by 2 marketing teams
25-person agency, portfolio of 30 clients.
- Editorial production for 12 accounts in parallel
- Trained 2 apprentices in SEO fundamentals

3 tips to make your freelancer / self-employed CV stand out
1. Group assignments instead of stacking them
Three lines for every two-week job drowns the reader. Build blocks by expertise — “SEO copywriting for e-commerce: 14 clients” — then detail the two or three most convincing engagements.
2. Name your clients whenever you can
One recognisable name beats ten adjectives. If an NDA prevents it, describe the profile instead: “fintech scale-up, 80 employees” conveys the standard without breaching confidentiality.
3. Show your renewal rate
“70% of my clients book a follow-up assignment” is the strongest line on a freelance CV: it proves reliability, which is exactly what self-employment puts in question.
