Summer job CV template: an example for a first job

For a summer job, employers receive a hundred near-identical CVs and sort them in seconds on one criterion: are you available for exactly the weeks they need covered? A CV without precise dates is discarded before it is read.

3 tips to make your summer job (first experience) CV stand out

1. Put your availability dates in the headline

“Seeking summer work — available 1 July to 31 August” answers the employer's first question. That single line moves your CV from the “no” pile to the “call back” pile.

2. Babysitting is real experience

Do not file it under “odd jobs”. Write “Cared for two children aged 4 and 7, 6 hours a week for 2 years, same family”: regularity, renewed trust, responsibility. That is precisely what an employer is trying to verify.

3. Do not pad with empty words

Avoid “dynamic, motivated, serious” with nothing behind it. One line — “Club handball, 3 training sessions a week for 6 years” — demonstrates commitment far better than three adjectives.
